LOL Does anyone use twitter?

My husband set me up a few months ago, I really enjoy reading the latest news national, local, NRAS information, team GB! Paraolympics, RNLI, out on a shout - rnli off on jobs.
I follow Boris, Tom Daley, Bradley Wiggins, Peppa Pig,Jeremy Vine, Philip Schofield to name a few !

In all, I follow 98 people - I'm not a mad stalker......means I receive their latest postings, funny pictures, its all light hearted.

If you don't - sign up its free and a good source of info, you can sign up to organisations for entering free draws for example some people follow tetley for free tea bags.

I tweeted team GB a lot over the olympics to say well done to team GB.

I like the way you read new things as they happen, without the media spinning things.

I'm signed up to follow some local the news guys give their take on things like the opening and closing ceremonies - they have humour!!

Anyone signing up to twitter?
If so enjoy and follow NRAS please!

Jane

Hiya Jane,

I've been using twitter for some time, it's a great way to get local contacts, publicise our local NRAS group and get the latest info/news on all sorts. it was a great help to me this time last year while travelling home from Southampton on the train, I knew all about the unrest in Birmingham, and was able to plan how i would get home by the time we left oxford, rather than getting to the city and finding it was sealed off with no buses or taxi's.

You can find me on there as @Robo_Jo

Hi Jane, no I haven't been brave enough to go onto twitter yet. I've not long ventured onto facebook, have only got into computers relatively recently so still feel very wary of everything. My daughter set everything up for me on facebook but as I'm a bit of an oldie not many of my friends are on there, which is a shame. May try twitter one of these days!!!! Sounds interesting, is it completely safe?

LOL well, I've just tweeted to Jo and now following her!

I just like reading info on twitter the here and now, the links for additional info and news as it happens.

Not on facebook, my fingers can cope with the little and often. At work there are some people on facebook a lot, and track anyone down to be their friend......a lovely lady I know calls it stalkbook!!! She is on it for family contact and photos of them because they live all over the uk.

I must say, this forum and twitter has been a good font of information whilst being off sick. I enjoy the nras forum family - all in the same boat with ra and different views/experiences to share.

Twitter is easy!
You don't have many characters to type things, just keep it brief!

I'm camping dude on twitter if you want to follow me!

Thanks Doreen, will be in touch. Its surprising how much time its possible to spend on the computer. Can't think what I used to do with my time!!! My family had been saying for ages that I should have one, but I'm not the best with technology..... glad that I did now.
I can see why your friend uses facebook Jane. Must say I have really enjoyed getting into contact with far flung family, in America, Australia, France and Ireland. Family that I have not spoken to for a long time properly, apart from the usual annual xmas cards. Its good to chat and keep up with their everyday activities, feel much closer to them, with the bonus that it is completely free and so easy.
I also enjoy using skype, though that takes a bit more effort arranging time wise, but an excellent way to be in touch face to face, ie see expressions etc.
May try twitter one of these days!!

Skype is fantastic. My daughter has just spent a year working in Canada and we skyped at least once a week.
That and the almost daily e-mails really helped to shrink the distance. And it's free.
Good job because she's off again soon for another year!
